Massage is one activity that has been tried by many people, and they can say that this brought cure of their muscular pains and relaxation afterwards. In some rehabilitation programs, a massage is included in the program and has proven to bring relief to several people.
And so for those who need relaxation and healing, we will go through here some of the benefits of massage.
Let us briefly give a background about massage. It has been said that the benefits of massage dated back 4,000 years ago as a healing therapy, which was used by the Chinese as one of their traditional medicine to cure some conditions. Considered as a hands-on therapy, massage has several techniques, from a gentle stroking to firmer and deeper muscular manual moves.
Massage is said to benefit the whole body in general and specifically influencing the condition of the various systems like musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems. Massage has said to have various kinds with different benefits.
One kind is the aromatherapy massage wherein the essential oils from plants are massaged into the skin in order to promote the healing and relaxing effects.
Described with a light and rhythmic strokes, another kind of massage is the lymphatic massage with the goal to enhance the flow of lymph throughout one’s body.
Focusing the application on the hands and feet is another type of massage called reflexology that uses a specialized technique using thumb and fingers.
Another type of massage is the shiatsu where finger and hand of gentle pressures are applied to targeted points of the body in order to relieve the person from pain, and also to improve the flow of energy through the energy pathways of the body.

With this next type of special massage called rolfing, pressure is applied to the fascia in order to stretch it, lengthen it and make it more flexible, thus realigning the body in order to conserve energy, release tensions and making it function better.
